There has to be a way to do that in all cars so that they can be tested in the emissions labs (on 2WD dynos anyway) otherwise the ESP etc. all get very confused!

The MSA Hillclimb Championship guys are just awesome to watch. I have only seen a few events with the top guys competing but it is just out of this world.

Nope. The VSCC do a race like this every year. Have a look at these videos (taken by me from just next to the start line) if you don’t believe me:

wasn’t a long straightaway, but a tight curve

Personally I prefer the single cam Bugatti engines for their clean lines, but the twin cam ones are nice too

Dear God - what have they done to that top one! It’s hideous.

That song popped in to my head the moment I read MBTA! I know it’s MTA in the song.

It’s the power ramp-in that will kill it (and most likely the driver).

Hmm. This is an interesting one. A lot of steel wheels now are actually lighter than alloy wheels. I know that on the Ford Fiesta EcoNetic they deliberately fitted it with steel wheels as they were lighter than all of the alloy wheels that were in the spec sheet!

I think the thing that is even worse than this is how the hell does an very good driver (007) in a very fast car (DBS) manage to lose enough time to an XJ such that he was a couple of (gentle) corners behind to them having enough time to slow down, carefully drop off a woman in the middle of the road, accelerate and

I love me some whale tail too

It is highly dependent upon a lot of the operating conditions.

A 7 series for $15k would need to be at least 1996 - not ‘86. Just too much money for a car of this age regardless of condition and mileage.

Very low fatality rate actually. In the past ~30 years of vintage car racing here in the UK there have been about 3 fatalities due to racing incidents.

Here you go - happens every year. I believe it even has this car and driver competing.

In some cases, they can get away with just running the FTP City and Highway tests.

Sorry - but that is not 100% true (and this is from someone across the pond - but one who spent 3 years working on this stuff for PHEVs!)

Just seen this which is interesting...
