I hate Musk, Tesla, and the Cybertruck with a huge passion but I must begrudgingly admit this does look pretty cool.

I’m not sure about the rest of Europe but in the UK the test is not much more than recognising what road signs mean, being able to follow the speed limits, being able to park in a space, using the main car controls properly, and not crash during the physical test. Nothing at all about roadcraft, looking ahead, not…
The cheapest in the UK at the moment (Costco) is about $6.55 a (US) gallon with the average price being around $7.23. That’s for your 91 equivalent - we don’t have an 89 equivalent in the UK.
Personally I think the best thing a Z8 ever did was to be sawn in half in a James Bond film.
Oh no.
These are high performance tyres - not ultra-high performance.
Monkey Island references are always cool!
There was also a Micra R / 350SR built in the UK by RML. Ended up with the 350Z V6 in the back ala Renault Clio. I believe the plan was for a 1-make race series but they only ever built the 1 car unfortunately.
Looking at this Government paper the decline appears to have really started in the mid-70s. Certainly after the war manufacturing appears to have gone through a surge for about 15 / 20 years but the rot really sets in around Thatcher’s time.
Well - more since the 80s and Thatcherism than the 40s but gettting rid of our manufacturing was certainly a bad move.
My brother pissed me off so much I literally killed him (meaning that you did no such thing because if you did then the police would be wanting a serious word, as would a judge).
The problem with keyless entry is that you have to keep the key in a Faraday pouch to prevent relay thefts which is an absolute pain in the arse. My Focus had keyless start but normal central locking - that was a great compromise.
My parents have a ‘61 MKII Jaguar. That has a key to turn to switch the ignition on & then a starter button to press (just to start, swtiching off is just the ignition key).
Yup. The first prototype was elektron (hence being riveted rather than anything else) and they then shifted to aluminium for the production vehicles.
Atlantic bodies were aluminium, not steel.
There’s nothing of the original chassis in the car either despite what might be put on the internet. It was only aluminium (I’m English - bite me :-)) parts that survived - all of the steel parts had been melted down by the time the body parts were discovered. And given that the engine was 100 yards or so away from…
That is an amazing gif! Properly had me laughing.
Often they are regional but, as a general rule, fast response & traffic cars are BMW 330d, local policing use Vauxhall Astra / Peugeot 308 / Ford Focus.
We’re a metric country. Except...
I laughed at that way more than I should (after I sung it:-) )
