I’m not missing the numerous reasons a victim might stay - I just don’t see them as valid most of the time. A person who threatens your life and the life of your children isn’t safe and cannot be managed.

Brandi did leave, once. She & her children were at her mother’s home in another city. She got a restraining order. She said she was in fear for her life.

What lack of action? The mother was abused, filed one complaint and declined to file charges. Her aunt, a police detective, didn’t know what was going on for the longest and couldn’t convince the mother to do anything. There doesn’t appear to be some long history of reports and accusations that were ignored. When…

This story makes me both angry and sad & not for the reasons most of you are probably thinking.
