I think he wanted it to be the Queen story as opposed to having Mercury be the center of everything while the music he and the rest of the band help conceive and in some cases, wrote fully by themselves, is playing but, they are shunted off to the side or to be objects of complication in Mercury’s life.

Yeah, I recall that interview and I agreed with Sascha; having the subject of the biopic die halfway through the story is a terrible story beat. Sounds as if Brian wanted this to be “The Brian May Story (featuring Freddie Mercury)“

Harry Potter franchise, $381 million during its release

Coke is back baby!

It’s kind of amazing how terrible the comments are. I’m usually in agreement with most of the commenters on here because I’m usually reading articles about Trump (who almost all commenters hate) or the Real Housewives (who almost all commenters like to mock).

There are multiple issues here and I’m admittedly rambling:

Now that’s some intersectionality.

God, almost all of the comments on this really well-written piece are fucking trash. Sorry, boo. The Jezebel commentariat doesn’t deserve you.

As an Asian American man, I am also tired of seeing East Asian women paired up with white men onscreen, as well as in real life.

Welcome to the world of Black woman, where we get NOTHING. Rarely the love interest or aspirational woman to be cherished and loved and protected. Pretty much always the sassy best friend who has no life outside of the white folks on screen. And good damn luck if you’re dark-skinned and rock your natural hair/braids.

Ahem.. as a white woman yes, this person should be able to look beyond stats and recognize a quiet racism against asian people. I do it. It’s not hard. It’s subtle and it’s there, and asian people in america deserve better. You don’t have to be asian to listen to people like yourself and accept what they say as valid

They actually did write an article about it a few years back, when the show was starting. Can’t find it now, but it’s out there.

This is a really bad take on a great article.

I don’t hate biracial people. Im just sick of women of color getting left behind, set aside overlook hell just never the one.

Interesting. As an Asian American man, I am also tired of seeing East Asian women paired up with white men onscreen, as well as in real life.

Since you’re not asian, you can’t be expected to understand what it’s like to be within a stone’s throw of acceptance but always kept at arm’s length fulfilling the role of yes men. Don’t try to understand it, you can’t, you’re not asian and don’t have the lived experience.

I agree but isn’t this particular movie a true story? I don’t think it belongs quite in the same category because it was Kumail’s real life experience with his current partner and not a fictional creation. Thoughts?

FUCKING THANK YOU. I couldn’t finish the first season of Master of None for exactly this reason. GAG.

I was all ready to storm in, guns blazing, in defense of Wonder Woman but after perusing the article, I’m...not quite sure what question is she’s even being asked, or even what the point is she’s trying to get to, really, and ended up realizing the flow of the conversation seems really strange and almost, in a way,

See, this is what’s wrong with white culture. All the glorifying of illegal drugs.
