I’m worried about a perfect storm: Some racist cop is gonna confront a legally weaponized African American off duty officer or former Marine/SF/SEAL that is in no mood to be fucked with and shit is going to go south really fast.

Look, there is no guarantee he’d be locked up, but she isn’t wrong. Were he not an officer, his chances of being arrested for this, white or black, rise significantly. Police protect their own like no other.

At one point a woman’s voice is heard in the background saying that the police were coming before adding, “You guys came to the wrong house!”

Jesus, it’s a banner day for catching cops on camera being wildly excessive, racist asses. Gotta love the euphemisms in that statement too. “Became involved” = charged at and tackled a teenager with no warning. “Detained” = choked out a teenager while verbally threatening his life.

Which would have ended up with one of the kids dead or facing charges. Meanwhile the aggro-asshole cop screams self defense, and never sees a courtroom.

I don’t see anything wrong with this situation except the killing statement which is ridiculous and not announcing that he was a police officer.

...and that’s part of the problem right there. Police officers are regular men and we need to stop treating them like they’re somehow above the law, or have more rights than the rest of us.

From personal experience of seeing the type of people who want to be police officers, that sounds about right. Use any chance they get to prove they’re “tough”.

No. Telling passengers to pray is telling them that you have no control over the situation and no idea how to fix it, and the consequences could be dire. That induces panic. That does not help it. And even if the eventual prayer helped those who believe in prayer, what have you accomplished with the folks who don’t?
