Wearing a wifebeater. In spaaaaaaace....

The cover for the Ringworld paper RPG manual. Serious flashbacks...

In medias res doesn’t mean the narrative as told needs to loop back later. It means the action is already moving as you enter it. A lack of prelude and buildup, if you will.

In my anecdotal experience here in HK, since those signs and announcements about not walking on the escalators came up... Nothing changed in people's behaviour....

If you’ve worked in the financial markets, Market Forces resonates in a particularly unsettling way.

He’s a pretty tragic character. I think it actually fits him rather well.

He does have a bit of twang, or at least a looser tongued American accent. Also, he says things like “hoss”.

Came for this. Left satisfied.

ROFL!

In that case it should be NIMBYs, not NIMBY’s.

I fly a plane that practically “drives itself” when I need it to. Granted, traffic is quite a bit more complex, but in my view the fundamental technical challenges are already solved. It’s all about implementation now.

Subtle jab from the writers that is also in character? Epic win.

Seeing as $76 million is less than a third of the list price of a new 777, it honestly seems like a bargain if the cause accident is ultimately solved.

I’m lucky to have a cafeteria at the office.

I started studying to be a pilot when over 40.

Indeed. Healthy choices tend to be “hidden in the back” behind the crap.

Airline pilot. Which isn’t all sunshine and daisies but the view from the office sure beats a cubicle wall. ;)

I’m an airline pilot. I don’t set my own hours, and to be fair I do work a lot of very odd and irregular hours including nights and weekends. This leads to a lot of fatigue sometimes, but I do enjoy my work. While there is a lot of routine, the view from the office is unbeatable.
