Jeep, as it is now, is built on the hope that people will ignore electric while gas prices are low and just continue to buy. The amount of Wranglers I see around makes me both giddy (I love them) and a little sad (because I don’t see it as sustainable practice).

VW, at least compared to Japanese brands in the US, is definitely seen as less reliable. VW’s problem is in the US they are not seen as a premium brand, but just another mainstream one like Honda or Toyota, and their cars are not only less reliable than those two, but also much more expensive to fix/maintain then them

Well isn’t THAAD just awesome...

Could be worse, you could be a taxi driver who just picked up Thomas Friedman.

Exactly how is what he said racist...? He talks about failed states and poor transitions, combined with a socio-economic issue based on large-family size and easily inferred from said family-size, need. Takes a lot of Euro to feed 7-8 kids, vs 1-2. It isn’t racist at all. Large-family size is a pretty common

I don’t know... the European nations have a pretty amazing mass transit system AND cheap cars.

Cars are never going away. There will always be people who want them/need them. Always gonna be salesmen, farmers, folks who want to live away from the city, folks who just don’t like public transit. So there will always be

Neutral: Are Electrics Really The Future?

The thing is, there’s a high environmental cost for ANY car be it electric, ICE, hybrid or other- you still have to mine the steel or bauxite or whatever to make it. That material will invariably come from the place with the least environmental protections and the lowest

You’re being promoted?

Interesting. You’ve got to give them credit for coming up with something this dodgy.

Why is it always an FCA brand that does this?

Yeah but then he’d be riding a bike and I’d be obligated by the car enthusiast code to hate him forever.

6 miles. 3 each way. In any weather. In Texas.

Triggered snowflakes at the NRA asking for a safe space because they fear the Maoists in their midst.

The Violent Snowflakes is a good band name.

Wow.. For a second there I thought I was watching some Verhoeven ‘Starship Troopers’ cut content for the propaganda... That is some seriously fucked up thinking but it fits right in with the world view of the right/religious right who have, despite having a significant majority, consider themselves victims and

Have you ever actually been to central London? It is perhaps the most congested clusterfuck in the world. I’m a car guy, but speaking as a car guy who spends a great deal of time in that particular city I can easily see (and support!) a future when private auto use is banned in the central city, leaving the streets

Or possibly it “is about making public transportation the cheapest option.” you know, like David took the time to write. In the article. About reducing congestion.

Why you gotta be such a negative-Nancy. Less pollution is good for everyone. Better public transit is good for everyone too.

Little known fact: this is how the Forester was born.

I daily drive a 2015 Camry SE. It’s literally the perfect car for my daily 70+ mule round trip commute. It is comfy enough on the Ohio back roads and it is still engaging enough on hills and curves. Nothing shakes it and it stays firmly “grounded to the ground” at 55 mph as it does pulling into the Costco parking lot.
