Trump doesn’t “get” anything - he yells and yells and yells and yells, and 5% of the time falls dick-first into something okay, and receives 120% of the credit and gets called a “GENIUS MASTER NEGOTIATOR”.

Are we sure that this is not a Hyundai?

You’re name is fitting.

The vintage VW scene definitely has the most thriving roof rack culture. In a lot of ways I think I’m a VW guy that somehow ended up interested in old Fords. I can’t help it, I love boxy cars, 3-on-the-tree shifting, and working heaters (burn). I don’t relate to most other people interested in old American cars though

Those “car guys” you seem to know should be embarrassed. My roof rack has been used more than most people’s trunks, and I’m surprised it hasn’t been worn out yet (Thule is good stuff!). This photo was taken the morning that we left for a 3 week climbing/kayaking/camping road trip with our 2 month old daughter. Now

China:

What’s stupid is that car makers are fully capable of meeting the efficiency standards. Engines have become vastly more efficient over the decades. But instead of that translating to gains in mpg, it translates to gains in horsepower while mpg remains stagnant. Instead of stuffing another 100hp into a Ford family

“Some people like full-sized trucks. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Republicans: We believe in states rights!

Seems more like “Typical Republican” to me.

Rock bottom, when even car dealers don’t want to associate with you to avoid tainting their image.

Except what Trump is offering now is anything *but* predictability. As soon as a new president comes in, he or she will be able to slap the standards back into place, creating a marketplace where some manufacturers continued to try to follow them, and others didn’t.

They sure do and they seem to have coped with different standards in California perfectly well up to now, seeing as how said standards were as clear as any other.

Trump’s Presidency reminds me of my gardening skills - Tearing out old trees, bushes, plants etc is easy. Replacing them to make the yard better is hard.

Sometimes, you have to listen to it on loop to *really* get it.

Not quite that dramatic of circumstances, but I’ve been fortunate enough to be on the other side of that equation recently. Twice in two weeks last summer I found someone walking alongside the road after dark and been able to give them rides.
