I was completely on board for this weird list until you stuck FFVII in the number 1 spot which is just way too predictable and boring. I have tried to play this game multuple times since it’s release and for whatever reason it just doesn’t grab me. I WISH I could be a FF7 fan because y’all are eating GOOD. Square Enix

Yeah I agree. This is a really weird, tone deaf take.

I can’t believe someone gets paid to talk about games they might play, someday, maybe, because one of the creators finally died. So bizarre.

Did you really just call Horizon Zero Dawn “underrated”???

So in lieu of creativity they’re just stuffing ads with popular celebrities? Great.

Hasn’t Okami already had like a bazillion remasters? And it still looks fine?

The trailer alone felt like Silent Hill by way of Forspoken. I don’t want to experience a sassy, obnoxious teenager with a cellphone through a silent hill experience.

The missed potential of FFXV is absolutely tragic. I agree the ending is a good idea in theory, but the ball was dropped so hard in developing it’s characters and story that it ultimately rings hollow.

Wow I guess I’m in the minority here. I will eat up whatever weird, drawn out, stilted, pretentious nonsense movie he poops out. Because no one else is doing it like him. I don’t want a generic hollywood writer adapating death stranding. Death Stranding has a very particular mood and it should be carried over.

I’m so tired.

They will keep doing this as long as people keep buying them.

Just commenting to say thanks to Kotaku for publishing something that’s actually relevant to my interests.

I see Kotaku has found their current video game du jour to write exclusively about. I miss old, weird, interesting kotaku.

This is Kotaku now. They’ve sold their soul to the engagement gods. 90% of their articles are just about whatever is currently trending.

FFXVi is so baffling to me. It’s a mediocre (and honestly kind of boring) action game welded to 6 hours of cutscenes. There is nothing jrpg about it. And the story, at least superficially is weirdly similar to FFXV. A prince with black hair teleports around while fighting. His dad dies early in the game. He has a dog

So bizarre that we have to write articles apologizing for games not being the greatest thing ever made.

Kotaku is so boring now. Y’all just grab trending topics about the latest AAA game and make a million posts about it. Rinse and repeat. There’s been like a dozen posts about Starfield in the last day alone.

Great article. Thank you! It’s refreshing to see someone not shitting all over star trek for some nit picky reason. I’m a fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars. But Star Wars has been boring for years. Star Trek actually excites me week after week to watch it. I feel like at some point the franchises switched places.

Huh. I always thought Underworld was one of the good ones. The sequels are pretty bad though.

Thanks. Linking things mentioned in the headline is hard.
