This is just bone-throwing for the religious set. The government will never, ever ban porn or booze (again).

That’s insane. Even in Newark, you can find a judge to come to a hotel ballroom (they still have hotels in Newark, right?) on a Friday night and oversee your vows.

If we could get it done in NJ, you could find a judge (or priest or justice of the peace or whatever) to come to a hotel and a hotel to rent a ballroom out of. I guarantee it.

“...this ($10K) is not feasible here, not at all...”

Your wedding, your guest list. End of story.

It’s not like we just came up with $10K in a day then nor could we do that now.

And they can tolerate my decision not to attend or they can fuck off.

And if they’re close enough that I can spend the night at home, then I’ll probably be there. If not, hey, thanks for the invite.

It’s cool. Wedding weddings aren’t for everyone.

NJ, one of the highest cost of living states, oddly enough.

I do and it was.

You can get married wherever you want. Really, you can.

I would prefer not to, but mainly because church weddings are usually super heavy on the Jesus and it makes my brain hurt.

If you’re committed to the idea of an actual wedding, it’s really not. $10K for the whole shebang, from license to location, dinner to DJ and dress to digestifs, is pretty cheap, actually.

I can easily see some dipshit couple that wants to make the bride’s/groom’s southern family feel “at home” put hotplates at every 20 seat table and ask them to “whip up summa that chili ya’ll make t’yonder holler.”

“I didn’t want everyone to attend.”

We pulled ours off in a hotel with a 150 seat ballroom, cocktail hour, 4 hour open bar and 3 separate dining stations. We also had the dress, the suit, the rings, the photographer, etc.

Yes, a shuttle service will ameliorate this sin.

Yes, all 3 same place.

Here’s a trend that needs to pick back up and continue forever:
