@crimsoneye: I think when other companies notice the success of open-source software, they will reconsider their own business model, like Microsoft did with Office. Everyone except Apple, perhaps, as long as Steve Jobs and Kim Jong-il are locked into their rivalry of seeing who can out-oppress the other.

@certifiedfryguy: I'm pretty content with my Droid, although I did root it last night so I could overclock the CPU. Really what it needs, though, is more RAM. I want someone to develop a phone that has an upgradeable RAM chip.

This is exactly what was needed to combat the iPhone; not a one-size-fits-all smartphone, but a family that caters to all needs. With tablets coming out now Android is more appealing than ever. Someday soon we might see Android-powered microwaves, TV's, dishwashers, and automobiles. Why, you could even code a home

@certifiedfryguy: No, it's fantastic. I can only imagine what phones will be like in 18 months when I upgrade again.

@Whitson Gordon: All right, I followed your steps and successfully rooted. Thanks for the article and answering my questions, I'm really glad I took the plunge.

So if the "app gold rush" isn't filling Apple's coffers, it's illegal? What a load of crap.

@Whitson Gordon: Okay, last question. In the article you mention that rooting will erase applications and settings, but will it also erase my contacts list?

@webdevmike: I thought it was called iOS now?

@OCEntertainment: You don't have to hold back here. Go ahead and tell us how you really feel.

@Whitson Gordon: That makes it really tempting. How has that affected your battery life?

@KryptonZero: Verizon licensed the term from Lucas.

Does overclocking the Droid's CPU give a noticeable increase in speed and fluidity?

@92BuickLeSabre: Any muscle dudes wanna jihad together? Hit me up.

@ZanderKal: I guess we won't know for sure until the phone starts shipping, but I personally would err on the side of caution.

Motorola Exxon? What a terrible name.

How nice, they protect everything except the glass... on both sides....

@Jacknut: That censorship, any censorship, does more harm than good.

@G-Squared: I understand that, but it could be accomplished in other ways, like parental controls and optional search filters. By the way, have you noticed how I'm being called "creepy" and a porn-addict because I disagree with what Apple and MS have done? That's the problem with censorship; once you start, it's

@20tolife: I'm sorry, but what "facts" are, in fact, facts? Please spell them out for me.
