Yeah my in-my-head response was "lol you think I'd quit my job?"

Important question: what kinds of soup?

Ahhh. I was hoping it was really fantastically dated slang.

Who calls it a "johnny"?

Exactly. And yeah, life of any kind. Especially since we now know anaerobic life is possible I think that's pretty definitely true; I think it's also highly possible that somewhere, possibly in other galaxies, there is intelligent life that in no way resembles our intelligent life. It just seems like pure hubris to

Are you a short, neurotic Jew? Because if so, yes!

Ugh.

That is, I am *not* trying to undermine etc etc

I sometimes believe that if I worry enough about bad things, I'll stop them from happening. I try to believe that climate change WON'T kill us all in the next 50 years. I also believe in life on other planets (though not in our solar system), though comparatively that one's pretty sane.

I think that's OF people who experience sexual abuse, % who will it experience said abuse as children. Otherwise, given the number of people assaulted in/after college, overall stats would be much higher than they are. If I am wrong, though, I'd be interest to see where you got the numbers. (That said I 100% agree

Where is that stat from? Is that also CDC?

I mean, it's not like people love to show support for victims of sexual assault anyway. But yeah, I generally feel neutral toward her, and I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to open themselves up to the vitriol thrown at those who talk openly about their experiences with sexual assault.

Isn't the CDC statistic 1/5?

God forbid anyone care about people other than their own children.

I found this last night — http://www.superherostuff.com. The "girliest" stuff on there is pink and frilly with a bunch of female superheroes and glittery writing that says "girl power!" There are plenty of things for the girls that are the exact same as the guy's things, plus a lot of wonder-woman shirts and some pink

Yes!! Or when a privileged group tells a marginalized group something "isn't offensive." Oh, it isn't? Silly me! Thanks for the clarification!

Or, that, you know, insulting girls in general is a problem whether or not he even has a sister.

Eww. That's not just gross bc his kids were little. That is all different kinds of gross.

Yeah, same. Equal pay, proper healthcare access, not being scared of walking alone at night (I live in Charlottesville, so that's been crazy lately), not being told I'm "adorable" when I'm angry bc I'm 5', and affordable single-malt scotch are all way further up the list.

It's not even that — it's a thing your mom thinks to pick up for you last-minute when she's visiting your new apartment for the first time, but doesn't consider an actual gift.
