PA charges $11 each for these stickers (call it a “stamp tax” if you want) plus you have to do safety and emissions inspections yearly at a combined cost of around $100. Most surrounding states only require the emissions test (the most expensive piece) every 2 years. Too many cars already look like they shouldn’t have…

I’m not as paranoid about rental cars are most people here are. And Teslas are pretty simple to operate and I’m not sure you can really abuse one outside of actually wrecking it.

That’s the amount transferred to the states. Then they have to go through the process of deciding where to build, contract out the work, etc. That takes a lot of time. They’re not building charging stations within days or week of getting the funding.

Not that I think this is worth the $500 they charge, but what it does is allow you to renew on the fly with their app, and the expiration date updates immediately, instead of having to wait a few weeks for the sticker.

I had the exact same gripes when reading this. Looking at the specs, performance, and interior, which isn’t bad but very generic and basic, it will be a hard sell at over $60K or more. When you get to that price range, there are lots of great options, albeit none if you want a very large coupe that is also an EV.

My southern state is taxing me like I drive a 25 mile per gallon vehicle about 12,500 miles when I pay my road taxes on our EV. I can live with that.
