You don’t develop a belief like that AND grow comfortable enough to share it with strangers without enjoying the a negative reactions at least on some level. This person’s not a troll in the same way evolution is “just a theory.”

I am sure the XBL terms of service cover them legally on your first point, and as for your second, I’m pretty sure when you complain about abusive chat it the system goes back and saves everything, so context is saved as well.

Facts and opinions are not the same thing. It is not an “opinion” to say the Holocaust happened. It is an opinion to say “I don’t think it was bad to do.” The Holocaust is a fact. As I said to Michael, his solopsistic self-truth bullshit only works insofar as it deals with opinions. The second you cross the line into

Opinions, by definition, cannot be about facts. It is entirely about something subjective and outside the realm of facts. A Holocaust denier does not have an “unpopular opinion”, and it is not a “difference of opinion.” It is a factually wrong statement. It is like claiming the Earth is flat. Claiming the Earth is

You should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features (for example, voice chat, video and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions) offered through the Xbox Live/Games for Windows-Live service. We may monitor these communications to the extent permitted by law.

Sure, it can’t override laws - but most laws when it comes to recording have a consent aspect (few if any ban all recording under any circumstances ever). And by signing off on the agreement, you give your consent - making it entirely legal to record. Like getting/receiving a call center call (from a center likely in

I really don’t think that applies to Xbox Live, a private service. I’m sure there’s a bunch of fine print about it in the End-User Agreement you sign when you sign up for the service.

An Xbox ban has nothing to do with the law. Microsoft can ban anyone they wish.

This is what we call “throwing their toys out of the pram.”

He may not be a troll, but he is a fucking idiot.

Would this really lead to legal problems? Or just a lot of recordings that would be inadmissible in a court of law in whatever country? Like, is it really illegal to do this in many places you know of?

My username had my name in it, which is Elizabeth.

So the argument is that all trolls are stupid, but not all stupid people are trolls?

Because of my user name, which happens to be a nickname I was given in college, a guy once accused me of being an Islamic terrorist male. With a small penis.

While it’s true that some folks will troll under their real name or under a screen name, discussions on say, Facebook which strives to use folks real names, are rarely as instantly vitriolic as it is on Twitter, XBL, Reddit or elsewhere.

Yep. ESPN thought using Facebook would alleviate the trolly BS, but nope. Some people are just assholes.

You’re completely wrong.

I don’t give people much opportunity to troll me in games.

Game forums, on the other hand... I once said something on this one GameFAQs thread (my username there is EXTREMELY obviously female—it has my actual name in it, because I was not very bright when I was 15 or so and made the account). The TC read my comment

“So fkn arbitrary. No rubric. Just pure luck of getting someone on a certain day reviewing your ‘violation’ WHICH is entirety insane on its own because if players are so offended by words on the internet they can FIRST turn chat censoring ON. Then as a second layer of protection for the weak minded they can MUTE the

Trolling is so easy when you’re anonymous... Maybe accounts should be tied to credit card numbers and IP addresses. That way once you’re banned, you’re screwed. You’d probably see that crap disappear pretty quickly.
