Van Helsing wasn’t very good but it’s portrayal of Frankenstein was about the best portrayal in modern cinema.

Come on, man.

Actor appears in public, places foot directly in mouth.

this gives his family some closure, but I’m sure the last few months have been awful for them.

In The Pina Colada Song dude takes out an ad because he’s sick of his wife and she herself answers the ad because she’s sick of him!

Sure. Next you’ll be saying that “Every Breath You Take” by the Police and “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt aren’t love songs. Pretty soon we’ll have people claiming that “Born in the U.S.A.” by Bruce Springsteen isn’t a red-white-and-blue-blooded patriotic anthem.

Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

I love that you posted that Ellis video. Her Beauty and the Beast remake takedown is still my go-to when talking about how all of these remakes (especially the princess ones) are addressing bad faith arguments from years of listicles rotting peoples’ brains.

I think we’re reaching a point where, because Disney’s villains are as iconic and marketable as their heroes, the characters can’t actually be BAD in any real way.  Wouldn’t do to sell a backpack featuring a character with poor morals!  Looks for an Ursula origin movie next where we discover she’s actually just

Strongly disagree. As you said, kids are going to hear the “seen and not heard” thing many times in their lives, it’s just inevitable. But, if the first time they hear that said is by someone who is a very obvious villain, someone who is clearly evil and untrustworthy, they’re going to associate that kind of line with

MY YOUNG CHILD LISTENED TO GASTON’S SONG AND THEN ATE FIVE DOZEN EGGS, CAUSING HIS STOMACH TO EXPLODE!!

They should’ve just updated Ursula’s lines for today’s audience. This way, you don’t have to remove the section and it’s still clear that Ursula is giving toxic advice:

you’re correct that’s it’s “prattle.” I had the cassette tape soundtrack with the lyrics insert when I was a kid and listening to this obsessively.

If you can’t deal with seeing Jessica Rabbit’s vajayjay, then you’re in ISIS!

I’m split on this, and I think along the same lines you do. I don’t think “Kiss The Girl” needed the update, but I can see it and I don’t think it ruins the song or changes anything. Seems rough on the meter based on the quoted new lyrics, but I’m no musician.

No one, apparently, has an issue with telling children it’s noble and good to abandon your family at sixteen to live with a guy you met at a party the day before, so long as he’s hot and from a wealthy family.

“There is no feud - we have no relationship” is the most perfect things I’ve read this week.

The one that gets me is AFTER Thorvald has spotted Jeffries. Jimmy Stewart has sent Thelma Ritter off to bail out Grace Kelly, and suddenly he’s alone and it’s quiet. And then we hear a footstep.

The Birds ending scared the f’n shit out of me as a kid. A close 2nd would be Norman speech at the end in his mother’s voice. God Hitchcock was another level.

That scene from Rear Window is absolutely one where I can imagine the entire theater screaming, and I really hope I get to see it that way sometime.
