Unfortunately, I've been to plenty of presentations where the person doing the presenting had NOT done enough preparation. Yes. "Learn your topic" is necessary advice. Because some people are foolish enough to try to present something they barely know.

Here's my advice as a music teacher: Buy a recognized, quality name. Many instruments can be worked on or repaired if broken. But cheap side-brands, aside from having poor sound quality to start with, will be unfixable if they break. You'll just buy a new one.

I think more important is to know what YOUR walk-away point is, and have some idea of what THEIRS is. And you DO have a walk-away point. Everyone does.
