Obsessed is a strong word. I’d always appreciated cool cars, became infatuated with a few, but only became obsessed when I started wrenching on them myself. Got this car when I was 17, the obsession grew as the modification list grew. Still have it, will never get rid of it.

Reminds me of a customers story of battery theft;

Took a ride from a friend 7 hours knowing he wasn’t coming back, to buy a car knowing it had most of its windshield missing, to drive it 7 hours home with a helmet on, at night, in winter....all to fix up as a surprise for my then gf, who wound up not wanting it when she saw it because, not manual transmission.
