Ehh, I mean, I love Jezebel, obviously. But Myrna (if that’s the thread you were talking about) was complaining about a particularly dark time where she got booted from the site by a touchy writer, then a bunch of people jumped in with non-specific, vague hatred for the feminist site which was gross. It’s hard, I

I thought it was a bit...ironic that they were all complaining about how touchy we are when they were being very touchy about things themselves. The site has had some ups and downs, and I abandoned a non-gray username due to a pile-on, but overall my experience here has been very positive.

I don’t think it’s just sexism, because quite a few were (as far as they claim, but I believe them) women who were feminists. I’m sure there are feminist women who dislike Jezebel, that’s valid, I just don’t get the more intense hatred.

*whisks you out of the greys*

I went to the comments of that Gawker article because I was genuinely shocked and saddened by the news and wanted to commiserate, and found a very long comment thread full of people complaining that Jezebel should be closed down instead :/

She’s doing great work at GQ, her Bieber article was outstanding. But I just want to read about her and Rich traveling to all the tourist traps in NYC!

I’m a bit flabbergasted... so relieved that Jez lives on. I personally wasn’t crazy about the rehauled Gawker but still. It’s kind of the end of an era, isn’t it..

Me too! Love all you guys.

This really sucks. I will miss you Gawker.

I don’t even know what to do with the idea of Jezebel being gone.

I couldn’t respond on Gawker, because I’m banned there (Which is weird being not-grey nearly everywhere else)for telling Ashley that trying to buy a stolen copy of Star Wars script was illegal. That said, I still went there every day and read both articles and comments with joy. I’m kind of uneasy about the hubris

Some of my best writing of the past ten years has been made through various commenter accounts here. I imagine it’ll all be dead soon.

I definitely enjoy the commenters on Jezebel more. Hopefully not all of the Gawker commenters (some I enjoy) come over here.

Thank you.

We love you guys!

Good luck to all of you in weathering this storm. Jezebel and Company means a lot to me, so thank you.

Thanks for everything, ladies and gent. We are in your debt. Can’t wait to see where we go from here.

Even if they can’t, I’ve often felt that Jezebel was not only a feminist equivalent to Gawker, but oftentimes a better version of it. I especially liked comparing the two sites when they both covered a breaking political or societal story, and while Gawker was usually good, Jezebel is usually better.

Very much not looking forward to more productive days ahead sans Gawker’s special brand of snark... I’m glad to hear Jezebel will live on, if the powers that be take The Slot away I may have to read “real” news again.

I hear Colbert and Sam Bee are handing out liquor as well
