I was just commenting on how the people buying $80k trucks aren’t buying them because they actually are trucks, they’re buying them because they want to look like they’re driving a truck. Very weird development in the modern auto market indeed

I don’t know how you transition out of it. I think making stock buybacks illegal or at least financially untenable is one thing maybe changing the tax implications of stock options... You can’t really change human nature and that’s going to overvalue short term rewards.
You think people with $80k pickup trucks put dirty parts in the bed?
Now, if Ford could translate that “awesome” over to the release of their more pedestrian models and maybe have a bit fewer recalls...
Yeah, and in the realm of EVs Ford delivered an EV truck 2 years ago that wins by a mile in value against this thing.
120 years of experience have taught a thing or two.
“And before someone comes along with the “but only rich people buy houses and new cars””
I’m gonna also throw in the fact that the CEO of Target said they had 7 straight quarters of declining sales for discretionary items like clothes and electronics. Nobody’s buying shit right now because everything’s too expensive, I know I went from being a person that wanders the aisles to someone who gets what’s on…
I don’t fly a lot in terms of flying for work, but at least 5 or 6 flights a year. I’m still surprised at how people think standing in the aisle with their bags waiting to get off before they even get the doors open helps anything.
On the used EV front, I also think a lot of people want to see more data points on battery life before making that kind of investment, and that’s going to take time.
During the Indycar races at Indy, Laguna Seca, etc. the track temps are usually 115 to 125 degrees F, but the drivers are fine in the middle of the day because the cars are actually designed with good airflow.
The temps described above are not ‘dangerous’ if the car is designed as such. If those conditions make it…
Remember they are also basically sitting on top of the battery pack.
So, I’m hearing from you that more workers need to Unionize and have their pay tied to the corporate profits, aka the major source of inflation.
Like so many here, I was a BMW fan for decades. That was my “when I get the money” car. And now that I can, there is absolutely nothing on that lot that appeals to me. Even the new 3-series, thankfully without the awful buck-tooth grille, has an interior that already looks dated and thrown together - the billboard…
Just kills me. I’ve been a BMW guy for 20 years and my next car will almost certainly be something else. I guess they decided targeting racerbois reaching upmarket was a better strategy than people who wanted elegant simplicity in a fun ride.
Agreed. I recently saw the new M2 in a parking lot. It was the typical Zandvoort blue color, and the proportions from any angle did not make sense. I tried to look at it literally just standing there like a stalker, moving around it and seeing if I could find a good looking angle. Nope. Even the black paint wouldn’t…

I think we have to entertain the idea that Max is that good. What if the slip isn’t a conspiracy, it’s just Verstappen making sure no one thinks Perez is as good as him?
Just a reminder that JD power initial quality is a very poor metric for reliability. It basically just shows which brands can iterate on their Ux faster.
