Let’s address just one of your examples, because I do not have the time to go over them all:

I did not think I had to spell out that I meant current regulations, I did not think anyone was stupid enough to think it was all or nothing.

Once again, Ecoboost Mustang isn’t much quicker than the GR86...but it costs more, particularly if you want the performance packs that make it accelerate and handle decently. You also cannot get one with a manual transmission.

Where did I say they should get rid of all regulation? I do not think they should do that at all.

I’m all for less PM, but now you’re talking about regulating the mass of vehicles...which I wholeheartedly agree with. It’d absolutely DESTROY the BEV market, so it’ll never happen.

Did...did you read my post? Clearly you didn’t.

The reason they don’t turbo the GR86 is it’ll become a $40k+ car, maybe more. You’re talking all the turbo hardware, a stronger/heavier transmission, a stronger/heavier diff, bigger/heavier brakes, etc. Suddenly it’s 3300 lbs and costs $45k.

California makes every vehicle sold in the US more expensive. The regulations they are trying to force on the overall transportation industry do not make any real difference outside of the aforementioned cost increase.

This article has made me realize two things:

You aren’t entertaining the possibility that part of being a super winner is being a shithead.

What's the point in living if you don't have magnesium wheels?

That entire wheel budget won’t pay for a single engine.

I think I’d just have a ZO6, save all the extra money and use it for tires and track days. Enjoy the better sound and response.

Will it? It’s heavier than a ZO6 with the same size/type of tires, so why would it be 30 seconds faster? Straight line speed helps some, but not THAT much.

If it’s really making the hp/tq numbers they claim, gearing shouldn’t matter that much.

Purpose of the 296 isn’t straight line speed either.

296 ran 9.6 on an unprepped track. 150 mph trap speed. Both MotorTrend and Car and Driver duplicated these times on unprepped surfaces.

Eh, 296 is aluminum like the ZO6/ZR-1.

Being that the ZO6 weighs that, that must be dry weight for the ZR-1.

No they aren’t:
