What is a car company?

These are perfect examples! Cars that the automaker *knows* won’t sell in volume, but get built anyway. More of this, please

Gt350 had pretty tall sidewalls because of the suspension being stiff. I only had the conventional suspension, and it was... unyielding. That said bigger impacts weren’t so bad because the seats held you well.

Tesla produced a $35k Model 3 in 2019, 3 years ago. I’d bet they could make a $25k EV right now if they wanted. They are currently focused on higher priced vehicles for the higher profit margins they need to continue to scale their company. So sure, a person making $50k right now would be hard pressed to buy an EV,

Not just good, make them get a CDL too.

Mechanical engineering isn’t like software engineering, you don’t gain 10x performance in a decade.

Good.

GR86? I saw an ND Miata with a hitch-mounted bike rack yesterday. That person had the right idea.

This.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard someone earnestly explain one of those perpetual motion theories to me. My boss on my first real job was a construction superintendent who would write for one of those nonsense science websites that’s a mix of the NY Post and infowars.

Yeah, the tech in vehicles today is what really ages badly. Look at the early 2000’s and the tiny screens. Even stuff from a few years ago look tiny and low res.  Cars aged much better before screens.

Rude, I’m faster than that... Oh we’re talking about something else... My bad.

That’s nearly exactly Android Auto/Apple Carplay except it uses the cars larger built in display.

One would think that the OEMs could team up with Brodit aka Pro-Clip and have their mounts available as optional equipment from the factory.

Well there used to be a standardized system with radio (head) units, and it was either a single or double system; so if your system went out, or if you wanted a different setup, you could easily buy a new/different one and it would fit exactly.

I keep trucks a long time and the factory systems look like shit after 5 years

“$65k minimum. Take it or leave it.”

There’s no way you find a running six speed LS F-body for under $15k. A clean example was $20k pre pandemic. The tremec transmissions alone are worth thousands.
