I dunno how you can get angry at this, if you wanted to protest her inclusion you could’ve done it in 1998. Her costume has not gotton anymore revealing then it already was (read: a lot) and they’re not going to omit one of the most requested characters in the series just because of what she looks like.

EDIT AGAIN: When the bomb detonates it clearly shows him and his wife getting into the vault (assuming so because he got into the vault.) So scratch that part about the family... maybe. It’s most definitely going to involve a husband doing what husbands do, though. Either grieving or protecting his family.

EDIT: ALSO the narrator specifically mentions he has an infant son. From the script it also seems like he had some sort of authority - perhaps he worked in the Institute?

My guess, given that the trailer keeps showing past/present, is that the protagonist was put into some sort of cryo-sleep in a vault. The baby might have survived, but the wife is probably long gone. Maybe the father will search for his kid? Maybe he’s going to keep getting flashbacks to the past? That seems like it…

The man in the first part of the trailer looking over the baby and the last part of the trailer petting the dog, probably the protagonist, are the same person. This confirms the past script leak with the protagonist giving the “war never changes” speech.
