I’ve read those tweets over like 10 times and I feel like missing something. I don’t understand what she’s trying to say. She thinks calling the dressing “oriental” is weird which to me sounds like she is agreeing that it is offensive. I don’t get it. No one was ever calling her “oriental”.

A large chunk of migrants arriving in Europe aren’t Syrians, and aren’t even from a wartorn country in many cases. In the case of Calais, only a minority appear to be from Syria in the first place.

So, they are not refugees. They are economical migrants.

This was never official and was written by a poet trying to raise funds for the construction of the statue. it was not written by the founding fathers or any other major american historical figure.

And if banks gave out free money to anyone who asked, there wouldn’t be bank holdups either. Doesn’t mean it’s even worth considering.

How would this have been a case of Cinemark “bilking” the plaintiffs? What does Cinemark need to apologize for?

But see, I’m not sure about the Hanfu. I remember seeing an exhibit on them and recalling that it made clear that there is no “special” context to the Hanfu - it was simply a particular style of dress that evolved at a certain time. They’re not religious dress or even tied to particular cultural ceremonies or rituals.

Admission: I like it when people appropriate my culture. It feels like acceptance. Is that odd?

it’s cool and all, but i personally, am for building regulations and enforcing them. renting a non-code compliant space out on airbnb doesnt sit well with me.
