Within months of his appointment as CEO in April, Spanfeller fired or pushed out the only women and people of color previously on the executive team, and brought in six former colleagues, all white men, from his days at Playboy, Forbes, and Ziff Davis, to fill leadership positions, as previously reported by Deadspin

One sales executive alleges she lost half of her assignments after the CEO replaced her with a former colleague from Playboy.

I believe the correct term for this sort of mishap is "Kravitzing."

Good advice but keep in mind this was written by a person who works for Jim Spanfeller.

Has she raised millions, or has she gone to galas, where she was maybe the guest speaker, where professional fundraisers had already done most of the work?

Yes. I automatically freak out whenever I see IRS letters in my USPS Informed Delivery Digest every morning, especially since it was closer to tax season than it was to when I actually got my stimulus a while ago.

Yes.   The letter comes 2-8 weeks after the payment.  I got one for the January payment in like March.  So timely.

The Muppet Show was a vaudeville act in the 1970's, at least 30 years after vaudeville was dead. It was never supposed to be “relevant.” It was a throwback to a bygone age even when it was brand new.

Even without Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl, they could still make a passable Muppet Show if they went back to the original

I think Villasenor was being meta just by being there. Lily Tomlin had been a guest on both the Muppet Show and Saturday Night Live back in the day, and having someone play a fake Lily Tomlin on a fake Muppet Show on the real Saturday Night Live probably cracked some writer up like crazy. The joke wouldn’t have played

Charles’ take in particular reminds me of how Trump reacted to SNL making fun of him. “I don’t mind people making fun of me as long as it’s funny.” The bad lip syncing aside, it sounds like Charles is upset the sketch wasn’t cleverer or didn’t take the progressive approach he wanted.

Right?! It was the funniest sketch of the show. The only people who I’ve seen get mad are those who hold the Muppets up as some untouchable gods. You have hecklers at a live show and security finally did something about it. It’s pretty straightforward comedy.

I don’t know if the current stewards of the Muppets grasp what made them work.

It’s not enough for them to just make the Muppet Show. They need excellent writing on it.

Muppets Tonight back in the 90s was for all intents and purposes The Muppet Show, but it didn’t quite have that spark.

Counterpoint: yes they did and this sketch was hilarious.

God, Disney, just make the fucking Muppet Show. Just the Muppet Show. New episodes. Same format. It would kill. Is that so difficult?

I uh… I laughed the most at this sketch…

Melissa Villasenor is a treasure

I don’t think anything preempted it. Courtney Stodden was huge in media gossip at the time and Chrissy Teigen was a self-admitted troll. A lot of people thought her mean humor and bullying was funny. It’s crazy to me thAt she took it to the level of DMing Courtney, but I don’t think there is really a deeper story here.
