I’m assuming it’s the same thing - a section beneath the stove top but above the oven where the flames are on the top? We call that a “grill” in Australia, mate, or an “oven grill”, not to be confused with a barbecue grill.

In the UK it’s just called the Grill, like in Australia they are just at the top of everyone’s oven.

I think you came into this with a negative attitude unfortunately. Dubai isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. I’ve travelled and lived between Dubai and Canada a few times now over the past 10 years. I feel like the western media creates a paranoia about the UAE because it’s Arab.
