A literalist will cut off the hand of any thief, unless the one stolen from doesn’t want the punishment (Islam allows room for repentance and forgiveness). Those who allow more room for interpretation won’t cut off the hand of someone who steals for need (starving man steals bread) or for the theft of trivial things.

The interesting thing with Islam and literalism is that, outside of a few topics, there is wide room for liberalism. The Quran is a relatively tiny book, and so speaks to very few actual topics that Allah has given His word on. Much of Islamic law is built on Hadith, which literalist can largely ignore because the

The EU is incompetent because it has failed to satisfactorily deal with the two latest crises: Greek debt and the refugees. It is corrupt because it is seen by many on the left as a vehicle to promote big business (cheap labor, free markets, common regulations) and because there is limited direct control over it.

It definitely seems to be that remain focus on economy (no one really knows how bad leaving would be, stick with the enemy you know), while leave uses immigration (UK government he no control, said to expect 5k Eastern European net immigrants a year, reality is 100k). My sense is that the EU is deeply unpopular across

Damn, that's like 9/11 times 34,000. Every year.

One lamprey is too many

Yes, just Northern Europeans

I'm numb and I hate it.

Qatar, and almost all Arab countries, require western (and Chinese) money and investment to survive. They would descend back to the 7th century without our insatiable need for oil. To encourage foreign wealth to be spent there, they allow Foreigners some limited exceptions from Sharia.

They absolutely did. There is no rational reason to have an absolute monarchy with no chances of football success, where the summer temperatures are in excess of 120 degrees, a horrid human rights record, and no facilities to host anything. Money > reason.

It’s estimated that 7000 people will die by 2022 building stadiums that a tiny desert country has no practical use for. All major international sporting events should be held in countries that have infrastructure to host them. And who no longer use slaves.

TBH, it has been pretty consistent with Islam. The atrocities of Christianity at least matched those of Islam, and probably exceeded them. But the atrocities of Christianity have been taking a definite turn for the hateful but less violent, Islamic extremism remains a consistent force of violence across the Islamic

Idk if the motive was explained, but I would love to never see the name Margaret Atwood ever again.

Passion of the Christ 2: Crucify This

I would pay to attend a Breitbart-Jezebel mixer.

Slate has been running articles on this topic all week. Unfortunately, they're not of the highest quality.

Yea, I’ve been pretty critical of Islam in some of my Gawker posts, especially for its treatments of women, but absolutely nothing I’ve learned about Islam would condone anything close to the actions of this poor women’s mother and brother.

When you’re trying to raise money from strangers, you highlight good things of the cause you’re raising for. If she likes to participate in orgies, bomb qualuudes, and tepee the houses of the boy’s CC team, great. Doesn’t mean she’s a bad person, But it probably will not help with fundraising from strangers though.

It’s sooo true! I thought the haze that I felt the morning after even after only 7-8 beers was normal. I always worked out early in the morning, in part to assuage the guilt of my drinking, and it is a lot easy to do a great workout when alcohol isn’t sweating into my eyes 5 minutes after I start working out!
