I always though the 2008 Malibu interior was pretty snazzy at the time. 

More than anything, the biggest change is how much higher the belt line is (scale is as close as I can get with MS Paint). It adds a ton of visual mass over older trucks.

I bet you’d be surprised how silo’ed operations are at in large manufacturing corporations. I would bet that the tonale was designed by fiat/alfa engineers and then dodge engineers took their design and tweaked it.
