All the recession-era Fords were kinda like this.

Yep. Mine are “medium light stone”, not black. The original brochure says “leather seating surfaces.” Meaning, the part that touches your butt and back is leather- all else is vinyl. They’ve held up surprisingly well- but then again I clean and condition them a couple times a year. The interior is awash in hard

Wow. Pretty shameful that a dealer would even associate their name with a car in such condition. I admit it, I have one of these. One of Jalopniks most hated cars. It’s been darn good to me, and I keep hanging on to it because it’s reliable, long paid for, cheap to own, and there’s nothing that I’d replace it with

“Manilla?”

I wish they hadn’t porked up so much with the last redesign.

Since introduction I’ve thought the Maverick would be perfect if it had a COLUMN shifter and a front bench seat with an armrest/console configuration like my 2002 Taurus had. Regular folding armrest, but the center seat section was hinged forward and flipped out to become a console with cubbies and drink holders.

I saw this movie once. I remembered there was a Jeep J10 somewhere in it. Dodge Ram is very typically 90's though.

The American response to any problem is “shoot at it.” If you can’t do that then it’s just shrugged off as unfixable.

Misleading headline. I think these cars are severely beat up on, but the above implies they were $15k when new. They were not.

Most of the compact trucks of that era had “sporty” V-6, 4x2, manual variants.

Friend had a non-turbo 2.5 94 or 95 with the facelift and revised dash. Blue on blue. The gearshift was sloppy, but it drove like a normal mid-sized car. Borrowed it many times, and he drove it cross-county twice.

And considering that we’ve seen HOAs act as if they’re their own governments before..” Well, they are. I get that it requires consensus and, ugh, work, but amend the bylaws.

Back in the early 90's I took a train from Copenhagen to Berlin via Warnemunde Germany and back. Although a ferry isn’t the same as a cruise ship, the train just drove onto the boat. This kind of arrangement used to not be unusual, but I don’t think there are many left.

I would hate to see some of the sales invoices for those K5's. It’s probably a decent car, but I bet the markups are purely exploitative.

Yeah I tried hard to like it, but it is the dullest of Toyotas, so that’s pretty dull.

I always thought Escort wagons of this era and the subsequent one were the prettiest little subcompact wagons you could get. Still a few around.

Good shirt choice Amber.
I don’t understand Wranglers.

A little baffling. I never notice Sentras, and I had to check the Nissan website just now to verify they were still selling the Maxima. Meanwhile Altima and Versa seem to be their volume sellers. I actually like the 1st and 3rd generation Versas.

Exactly.
