Not sure about the curtsy moment in particular, but from my knowledge Diana did have a hard time with all the royal protocols and traditions. Didn’t help that Charles was not interested in ushering her into that world (or being around at all — I do believe it’s true he left for 6 weeks before their wedding).

Caroline definitely nails what aggravated me with this episode. There was far too little attention on just how culpable Prince Charles was to the entire Princess Di tragedy. The show always tries to paint the Royals as beholden to the entire theater of Monarchy and its “rules” but Charles clearly never felt all in on

The episode did a good job of making me annoyed with, and sympathetic for, both the royals and Thatchers at various times. I find it hard to believe that nobody briefed Thatcher about what might happen at Balmoral or what to pack - haven’t we seen the Crown employing a whole team of stage managers for these kinds of

I mean my main frustration with the series is that a show ostensibly about Elizabeth was constantly banging on about Phillip’s angst.  You would have thought the show was all about him.

Nah. The royal family were a bunch of vapid snobs being hilariously judged by a vile would-be-tyrant. I loved seeing them through her eyes.

Her nickname for years was Thatcher the Milk Snatcher.  Because he felt that children were not entitled to free milk post World War 2.  She only got worse from there.

Her offhandedly mocking the Scottish got me to loudly yell fuck off.  God she just cannot empathize with anyone but her own children.

Spoiler, eveything that cabinet promised would happen came to pass.  Unemployment surged, protests became rampant, crime rose.  Thanks Maggie, you fucked up!

I hadn’t thought of it that way but you’re right - I mean of course this is a fiction and we’ll never really know what Thatcher was thinking or feeling - but the idea that she felt nobody is entitled to pleasure or rest or comfort is really illuminating.

Well, any fears that I had that The Crown would be painting Thatcher in too sympathetic light were assuaged by this episode. I found myself literally yelling, “FUCK MARGARET THATCHER,” out loud alone in my apartment while watching this. (This is actually to Gillian Anderson’s credit in my opinion.)

Mitchell and Webb gave the definitive answer to this theory:

What if I told you that not everything needs to be bashed over our heads? That perhaps we didn't need lingering scenes of a stag at all to understand the metaphor of this episode?

Damn SPCA, they should have wounded and killed a real stag.

Such beautiful cinematography in the landscape shots in this episode. It would have been an A for me if not for the awful CGI. The scenes with Diana and Phillip were really wonderful.

Also the name of a Burnley FC and New Zealand Centre Forward.

Cool story bro.

This whole “best/worst Chris” thing is even dumber than “is a hot dog a sandwich?”.

Did you not see Endgame?

Why does Hemsworth, the largest Chris, not simply eat the others?

I mean, I’m all for artistic integrity, but would it really have been impossible in either of these scenes to give Cruise and Winslet a small air tank that you digitally removed in post production?
