They merely annexed it.

Weird thing - A Night to Remember actually takes several shots and bits of footage from the Nazi version of Titanic and uses it uncredited in their movie.
Was about to post the same thing. He tries to save her at first because, misogynist shit that he is, he thinks of her as a prized possession. It’s when she refuses to be that that he tries to kill her.
Zane’s character doesn’t always make sense. If he hates Rose as much as he seems to, for instance, then why does he keep trying to save her? And then kill her?
As Star Wars was to 80s teenaged boys, it was also to this 80s teenaged girl. I was in the movie theatre in the first week that the first movie opened in 1977. I saw it a zillion times and was in the line for the first weekend release of The Empire Strikes Back.
ive never known a genX woman that didnt like grease
I’m mentally recasting Star Wars with Dirty Dancing characters and realizing that Baby is closer Luke than Leia. In that Star Wars, Han and Luke would end up falling in love. The breakdown:
Every teenage boy dating a girl that year was forced to see it in the theater at least 2 times.
I was an 80s teenage boy and I friggin’ loved this movie unironically. Call it a guilty pleasure.
I was an 80s teenage girl and I’ve still never seen Dirty Dancing. But then I’m the weirdo who dragged all my Footloose loving friends to Buckaroo Banzai.
I liked both but Swayze was my sexual awakening so Dirty Dancing wins. My friend and I would watch and rewind the butt scene over and over. We were so desperate for a peek at naked, man butt!
Haha - interesting thought. Though I was a teen when it came out, I have never seen Dirty Dancing and until reading this review had only the haziest idea what it was about. I am familiar with many scenes as it is constantly emulated/satirized, but I don’t think I’ve seen a single second of the actual movie, other that…
Maybe the heterosexual ones
I saw this film a gazillion times at the dollar theater with my best friend. It contains so much I’ve never seen before or since--male/female friendship, the understanding that both men and women can be predatory, that loving parents can still impose roles on their kids that are insanely hard to break free from.
I watched both a million times. Loved them both. Princess Leia was a role model for me. I LOVED HER SO MUCH
I never saw Dirty Dancing, but it couldn’t have sucked that bad.
I was an 80s teenage girl who loved both Star Wars and Dirty Dancing, but I can kind of see this.
Even though I’d seen lots of R movies from the ‘80s by then (Porky’s, Private School), Dirty Dancing for some reason sounded a lot naughtier just based on the title. I thought it was more serious and seriously erotic and maybe I was shy about wanting to see it even though everybody else (well, girls) had seen it. I…
Natalie Portman did some interview for Star Wars and she said she never watched it when she was younger, but was obsessed with Dirty Dancing.
It was. I only have elder sisters and they LOVED Dirty Dancing, and they watched it even more than The Princess Bride.
