Agreed, there was an egregious lack of Porchey this season but Andrew was there, so perhaps that counts. 

West will have to work hard to tamp down his charisma. Charles has some qualities but “animal magnetism” doesn’t spring to mind.

Jonathan Pryce as Philip? I love me some Jonathan Pryce but I think the show missed their shot casting Charles Dance as Mountbatten. Dance looks freakishly like Phil and would have been perfect for season 5-6.

yeah, I was a bit harsh there. I have huge sympathy for her - she didn’t handle the sitc well, but I’m not sure who could have. What an awful crew. 

...and did we all notice the headline on the sports pages of the newspaper that Liz was holding? It a reference to Norman Hunter, infamous Leeds United and England defender/enforcer who was so ferocious in a tackle, his nickname was “bites yer legs”.

I have a lot of sympathy for Di but I’m glad the this episode shows her shallow narcissism. The look on her face as she watched the Phantom video...

the show somehow ignores that she had to convince him to go home with the coffin and not continue the holiday. What a guy. 

Elizabeth’s ballerina comment was the highlight of the season. Tobias’ choke was perfect and I need a gif of it NOW.

yeah, I’d be surprised if they had been that clever. (My favourite episode of the entire series is in season 2 - when Uncle Davids Nazi past is revealed - features Jared Harris. I wonder did he come back for that?)

..and this is where The Crown became a sci-fi show: Liz authorized a leak?; had a political argument with Thatcher?; personally organised a Commonwealth statement? Complete nonsense. Fun to watch, but never happened!
