The three Bobs are brilliant, but Ryan wins by a photo-finish for the “guys with funny names... you know what I mean” scene. His delivery is just chilling, and so understated (for a guy who was usually a bit too much for me).

and has one of the best trailers ever, too.
this movie could go badly wrong, but I’m really just to say how much I like the logo. Love that Beatles font.
conincidently, the “You may also like” sidebar was flashing an image of Meghan McCain when I was reading the headline. SNL, can you cast Rebel as her soon?
it’s easy to snark but the “Best Song Written For Visual Media” category is actually very impressive, and the right song won. Hurrah, Grammys!
what was the cut Hawkeye scene? Was it shot?
excellent point, that in this case I hadn’t really considered - I thought Puerto Ricans where both.
thanks - that makes sense. And thanks for not yelling at me for being an idiot.
Interesting. I enjoyed the movie - the acting, the dialogue - but the direction really annoyed me. So I wonder how much of the dialogue was in the original script.
I know this is very difficult waters, and I apologize for any offense, but Zoe Saldana is Puerto Rican, not African-American, so... does that count as black?
that’s interesting - Gunn certainly was very dismissive of Perlmans contribution, so I thought here had been some bad blood. And thanks for the recommendation on the directors commentary, I’ll check it out.
the skydive is so cool.
I know I’ve about it before on this site so sorry to be a bore but yeah, the elevator fight in Captain America: The Winter Soldier is brilliant, but the Nick Fury carjack scene is the best action Marvel had produced. One of the best action scenes ever, for me.
totally agree that GotG is a left-field choice for Marvel, but I wonder if it’s success if more about Marvel “story first” approach than to confidence. I’ve read that movies get green-lit when the story is ready, not when the launch date is set. For example, they had planned to have Dr Strange 2 out last year but…
the first SLJ Shaft has a few excellent supporting roles - Christian Bale and particulary Jeffrey Wright. It was years before I realised that the same dude was this badass villain, Basquiat AND Felix Leiter.
I was actually ok with the trailer (and I liked the second movie too) but Tim Story? Now I’m nervous.
“And if a company is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars making and then promoting a movie, it wants to know it has a strong base.”
well Reggie Perrin would know...
the trailer for this looked amazing. Looked like the video that Duran Duran dreamt of making for Chauffeur.
hey, on a good day, that could be a nice walk...
