he must be really really good-lookin’ cos he’s got nothing else going on. First Man is a good movie but I can’t help wondering how much better it would be if they got someone who can act like there’s hidden depths behind a bland expression, instead of just... a blank expression.

With all due respect, sir, I believe that was Ed Harris’ finest hour.

playing a famously bland, stoic, emotionally-repressed white guy? Dude, he leans into it even more than usual.

I’d forgotten which standup said that. Thanks - I’ll credit him form now on!

ugh - is that dumb name actually a thing? (I don’t even want to type it...) Can we just not Mean Girls it and tell everyone to stop trying to make it a thing?

thought you’d go with “Won’t get fooled again” but yeah, that works too.

no, it means you’ve made the correct life choices. Congratulations - here take my seat on the porch, I can scooch over.

it’s like Lou Gehrig getting Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

yeah I see that. But to be fair, most classic mainstream superhero artist draw the same face: Byrne, Perez, Adams, Miller, the Buscemas...

yeah, me too - generally, it felt like a few important scenes had been trimmed. It felt like it needed a scene showing Ally going from folkie duets to trashy pop.

dunno, man. Never heard of Oscar Bazaldua until just now and he looks like he’s trying to live up to those gorgeous Dodsons covers, which is no easy task. If he can pull off a good Dodson and/or Coipel look, fine by me.

This. If the industry made as much effort to promote collected editions as they do first issues, everyone would be a lot happier.

hey...

to quote the poet Boney M “ohhhhh, those Russians...”

I love Andrea Sorrentino’s artwork but I’m amazed that he got regular work at the big 2 companies - his style is so far away from anything close to their house style, or even anyone else. Great to see such a unique style in the mainstream.

...i think I’ve been insulted...

I saw how they swarmed over the wall in Jerusalem - better get a bike.

give them some props, though: the guy they cast looked exactly like the guy in the comic.

did everyone on the base ride bikes, to evade the zombie hordes?
