those last two sentences seemed to drop in from a different review: they’re getting better but also dreary?

ok, she’s a hard pass for you then - my problem with the show was that she’s not that funny. You’re right, the show feels like a Moth raconteur - interesting but not that funny.

her sexuality, and prejudice against her because of that, is certainly the point, but she takes it into very interesting places, including deconstructing her actual act. But yeah, if its not an interesting subject for you, then the show is probably not your thing.

waaay more to it than that. That’s mostly the first half, but the rest is excellent. Some good art history stuff, if thats your thing!

Did you like her actual stand-up bits? I thought the second half, the “real” stuff was brilliant, but her stand-up wasn’t great. I’m also curious if this has always been her set, or if the second half is a new development.

Australians and Brits pronounce Gough as goff (and Brits pronounce Van Gogh as vann goch) so when she first said it, I thought she was taking the piss out of hillbilly Aussies. But later, in her own voice, she says goff. Too bad, because it distracted from the excellent points that she made about him.

The second half of the Hannah Gadsby special is brilliant but the first half, the actual stand-up bit... is pretty terrible. I’m actually amazed that she’s had a career for ten years with that act. But the second half is excellent. Or is that her thing? Has she always done a “half stand-up/half truth to power” set?

ah. Hadn’t heard of it. (50c for Down with Love? Get in there...)

(whats CeX?)

Love this movie, and this is an excellent story, but I would have been happy to read an article just about the wardrobe. Hell, I’d read an entire article just about that midnight blue suit that Ewan wears.

he even snuck in a reference to Fantastic Four - theres a FF comic (number 1, I think) in the background, on a newsstand.

“it helps that the Venn diagram between Niles Crane and a Tony Randall impression is just a circle”

he was the best thing in that show, but it didn't hurt that it had a cast of some of the best-looking people ever.

dude! Thats a nice job! Whats your hourly rate? Got a stack of images to work on here...

if it had ended after Spock torpedoed the Evil Enterprise, it would have been fine. Everything after that is terrible, and feels like a re-write.

you, me, Dino Ironbody and Kramer.

thats crazy

his scenes are on the dvd extras. He’s good, just not as charming as Fox.

yeah, good point - that was a year before he died, he was pretty chubby then...
