I've seen people post "unboxing" videos of blu-rays. Like, "Okay, I'm opening up the case, and here's the disc. Here's the little booklet. Looks like everything's here. Okay, thanks for watching, you guys."

In a lot of cases, that's true - Pixar especially seems to have a good handle on casting big stars who are also very appropriate for their roles. The issue I had was with studios who, say, cast Matt Damon as a talking horse because, who would notice right away that it was Matt Damon, or care that it was Matt Damon?
Jack Black is different, I think, because he has a very distinct voice and personality that can be translated to animation. That's different from movies where, say, Kirsten Dunst voices a main character just because people have heard her name before.
As long as studios are dumb enough to believe "star power" matters one bit for animated kids' movies, I can't blame actors for wanting a piece of the action. That said, voice acting is a different kind of craft, and it's a shame that talented voice actors lose out on big parts because the studio wants Freddie Prinze…
Joke all you want, but I guarantee that someone somewhere spent real money trying to make that happen. We may never know who, or how much, but there was a person at a desk somewhere in the world at some point in time trying to rationalize a Fruit Ninja movie.
See, I think using the word "screed" in reference to an article about the Toxic Avenger series and insisting up and down that the critic has no sense of humor because he didn't laugh at every dead-baby joke is its own kind of humorlessness. But that's where we differ.
Aw man, spoilers for Gambit! Jeez!
You have no sense of humor, then.
Lots of people find Troma movies funny, I just don't understand why some Troma fans revel in being "different" while also being really defensive at the people they're being "different" from.
Having a sense of humor doesn't require you to laugh at every single joke.
Yeah, but it was bad on purpose, which makes it truly independent and ideologically pure and better than all the soulless corporate articles out there.
I guess I don't understand how you can be proud of sticking it to the squares while condemning the squares for having it stuck to them.
Just because someone doesn't laugh at a specific joke doesn't mean someone has no sense of humor - theirs is just different from yours.
Like Whovian said, El Rey Network is the closest thing to what you're describing on the major TV providers, although you'll probably have to shell out big bucks for a channel package big enough to include it. (I know I do!) Bonus points if you like Miami Vice and Knight Rider reruns.
Your Mother and I Want to Talk to You, Internet.
Everybody "need see" Buckaroo Banzai, pal.
Jesus Christ, buddy.
What?
Kind of more like, "Four Years of Garbage Pail Kids, 25 Years of No One Really Thinking About Them, That One Episode of Always Sunny, Then One Year of Cashing in on 80s Nostalgia," right?
If you had told me "The Mysteries of Laura" ran Sunday nights on NBC from 1976 to 1978 and starred Connie Sellecca, I would not have questioned it at all. That title is a real "Fuck you, there are only three channels, what else are you going to watch?" kind of title.
