I, personally, don’t find it ugly. Adding more black space to the screen would be ugly for me. I have a Vizio, one of the last models they made. 240hz, 120hz 3D. Dunno if the 3D is actually lower than 1080p but I can’t tell the difference. I’m still rocking a passive 3D 1080p 65" set in my living room. I refuse to go 4k until I can have 3D+4k. We enjoy it too much, and honestly it has a great picture. Until 4k is mainstream cheap (as in no over-charging for content, players, lack of support, etc.) I’ll probably pass on it.
