I'm the caretaker of a semi-public building which is apparently a hot spot, and it's hard not to watch people milling around tapping frantically on their phones. This game must be a wet dream for muggers, as folks seem oblivious to their surroundings while they play.

I would rate Pixote as the most essential. Carandiru is surprisingly enjoyable for a movie about a massacre.

There's nothing else like Pixote out there. I hadn't realized that Carandiru was made by the same guy. Carandiru was also excellent, and made me a fan of Lazaro Ramos and Wagner Moura.

Very Brazillian to give things their own stink-word, like chulé. Really pushes the horizons of the language.

I can't remember anything else about the movie, unless it's the one with Charlie Sheen playing billiards. I still sometimes mutter "well vive la fucking France man!"
