Sure, BMW gets criticized for making cars that are “bigger, more complex and more expensive than their predecessors” but every car maker does that. BMW deserves special criticism because they used to be the industry standard (alongside Porsche maybe) for making balanced, hard-edged driving tools whereas the past few

Don’t forget the “not all who wander are lost” bumper sticker...

Yeah it’s not gonna feel or drive like the Mercs we’re used to because it comes from MB’s commercial arm which is huge in Europe but small here. The problem is you still pay Merc prices. I loved the idea of a diesel 4x4 passenger van that I could drive around town and take camping, until I jumped on the configurator

Now why can’t they make one with AWD, or even better, a real locking 4wd system? The #vanlife crowd would love a factory 4x4 van that is cheaper than the top-line Mercedes Sprinter.

I am also a BofA user and I think you are misunderstanding the customer bonus. I recently was on the phone with them trying to understand the “preferred reward” bonus for their travel card. When they say 10% bonus, that is 10% extra points, not 10% cash back on purchases. So your 1% would become 1.1%, 2% at grocery

I just signed up for the Bank of America Travel Rewards card. I also bank with them so I get 1.87 cents per dollar back, and it’s easy to redeem on all sorts of travel items. I will get $250 in bonus points after I spend a low threshold over the first few months.

The irony is that the most exciting tracks (for drivers) usually create the most boring races, and vice versa. Monza is super boring to drive, but it creates exciting racing because it has so many high speed sections followed by slow chicanes that create an opportunity for passing.

I saw the headline and my first response was My Honda Prelude (5th gen). It was my first car.

Yes, Gordon is kind of like a Colin Chapman for the modern age. Except that he isn’t really modern anymore. Has he done anything noteworthy in the 25 years since the F1 came out? I keep hearing about things he is designing and they never make a splash. Its hard to imagine that this won’t be the same.

If you could schedule IMSA to race anywhere else, where would you pick?”

I’m 6’5” and I’ve always loved small cars. I dream of someday owning a Lotus 7. I don’t care if I look silly.

Yes it’s a tricky corner and yes people try to show off for the camera, but I suspect that there are so many videos because it’s super accessible to spectators. Brunchen and Pflanzgarten both have huge parking lots right off the main road. Most other viewing spots require you to hike quite a ways. I’ll bet there are

Just rent a cheap car like the swift or a FiST and drive a couple laps really slow. It’s still a worthwhile experience. There are people who drive 35 mph the whole way and they probably enjoy it more than the ones pushing. It is just worthwhile to be out on the track and experience the steepness of the hills etc.

When I was sitting watching cars go by at Brunchen I started counting BMWs vs all other cars. There were more BMWs.

We did a road trip from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye this summer. We had 4 adults and 3 kids so what we really wanted was our AWD Sienna from the US. There aren’t a lot of minivans available in Europe but we reserved a Routan or similar:

I hope the ER and Trauma docs get to do laps of the track so they know the speeds and risks involved with various sections of track. At least that would be my excuse if I lived there...

Arizona traffic isn’t usually that bad, but when there is a fatal accident the highway patrol insists on closing the whole freeway until they finish their investigation. That usually means a few hours, and it is especially problematic because Arizona freeways have long wilderness stretches without any exits so there

Ok maybe the 8 was slightly bigger but not like 8 series vs 3 series bigger. And when I said the 4-door 3 became the 4, I meant the 2-door. I don’t know why I’m arguing about BMW’s naming scheme like it makes sense because it’s clearly bs. My point is that there wasn’t a good reason to go from Z3 to Z4 other than a

That would make sense, except that the Z3 became the Z4 in 2002 and the 4-door 3 became the 4 only in 2013. So I don’t think the Z number has anything to do with the number of doors. Also the Z8 wasn’t any bigger than the 3, only faster...
