I haven’t finished the series yet but -

There was a fascinating article in the most recent road and track about the guy who invented TEL, and the immense profits he made by choosing it over safer alternatives.

You’re right, but I’d blame smartphones and the distracted driving they cause for the majority of these new deaths.

I know it was just released last year, but the second gen toyobaru looks better and has more power than the first.

Yeah. I just bought a 7.3 with 230K miles for less than 11 grand. I thought that was a very nice price in today’s market, even if the interior and paint are rough.

I got an ad-blocker just for Jalopnik. In general I support other site’s need to get ad revenue but jalop has gone way too far.

Too bad this isn’t getting as many clicks as Jeff Bezos’ yacht. This is a fascinating article! Thanks Owen!

Hey man, I’m a Lewis fan and I wish he had won. But I’ve listened to several analyses (BBC checkered flag podcast, Jolyon Palmer on F1TV) that think that we could have gotten the same result if Masi had ordered the lapped cars to pass as soon as Nick’s car was cleared, after passing the debris. The problem was him

You are of course right about this being just the last controversial part of a very long and controversy-filled season. And I think if Lewis is honest with himself, he would say that he wasn’t really screwed by the FIA, he was screwed by the poor timing of Latifi’s crash. If Masi had been decisive and not gone back

Is it just me or are the truckers more annoying over the last year? Cutting into the left lane at the last minute, and then taking 5 minutes to pass… I’ve been thinking it’s the newly minted truckers who came in to fill the shortage.

Not sure what you are referring to, most of the reckless driving these past few years has come from the young Dutch boy.

Erik, you say this decision will let the racing play out on track, but it will actually make the racing worse. Now that precedent has been set, overtaking will be far more difficult. The lead driver can just choose the inside line, blow past their braking point, and run the other driver off the road.

It doesn’t matter if he turned tight not not. He didn’t turn left until he was way past the apex and nearly off the track.

Yeah, the vanlife crowd has been wanting an electric van for ages, but this isn’t a good option for camping because of the range.

FWIW, I have a decent wheel that I use for iracing and I hated it in FH4. With physics turned to sim or arcade, it just felt really unnatural on dirt or snow. Looking online, it seems lots of people had the same experience even after spending a long time tuning the game and wheel settings. Personally I just embraced

Still kind of a Karen since her response to the episode was to intentionally rear-end him…

I’ve driven the ‘ring during a tourist day and it truly an overwhelming sensory overload. It has all of the usual track day experiences, but the amount of traffic and the speed differentials are much greater such that you have to be constantly checking your mirrors. Also, the length and difficulty of the track

When I think of the ride of F1 cars I think of them bouncing over curbs. Worse ride = fewer cut corners which is fine by me. It may make drivers less likely to try tricky passing maneuvers though, if there is a chance they will be run wide into the curbs, bounce into the air, lose ground effect, crash etc
