i don’t see the demos having a big charismatic leader like the GOP has right now. They are very diffuse and unorganized these days it seems.

We watched the new season of Twin Peaks to accommodate a friend - but it turned out to be our best decision. Those long awkward pauses .... the CC says... “whooshing”.... it was a hoot.

Not so hot, i watched it with the director’s commentary on once. The most memorable bit was when the director announced one, rather unimpressive scene, as containing, ‘a very expensive crane shot.’

Swinton’s a good analog - although she’s not a musical performer. Jones plays with images of gender, race, racism, musical forms - her confidence is stunning. :-) I can’t wait to see this doc.

Don’t you think maybe the Houston police have bigger concerns right now than bottles of water? Citizen’s lives are at risk all over the city and the police are, appropriately, focusing on that. The world isn’t as black and white as you think, when you grow up, you’ll see what I mean.

United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) My grandmother was part of that cabal. Their meetings consisted mostly of, ‘ghastly little teas’ as my mother described it; and leaving flowers on the graves of dead soldiers.

I think a lot of the Confederate monuments were a artifact of the late Victorian period and its ridiculously sentimental attitude towards death and especially fallen soldiers. Kentucky was a border state. Actually all the Southern states provided soldiers to the Union. The South was far from being a homogeneous polity. NC sent as many states to the Union as they did to the Confederacy.
