Well yes I know that. I'm saying that it IS possible on older ABS systems to lock all the wheels simultaneously, keep moving forward, and the ABS either disengages or doesn't engage at all.

I'm pretty sure that most new vehicles do have such a system, but older ones not so much. In fact, I know my old '96 Lumina could, under certain circumstances, lose traction on all four wheels and the ABS would stop pulsing. Then again, that car was a major piece of shit.

ABS uses the wheel speed sensors to determine the speed of each wheel, right? So if one or more wheels stops or spins at a significantly lower speed than the remaining wheels, then the ABS system pulses the brakes, right?

That's my guess. It doesn't matter, though, as the crash beams are only good for about 5-15 MPH. At that speed, he would have still caved his front end.

This post was at 8:49 my time. Coffee had yet to kick in.

ABS only works if one (or more) wheel(s) is(are) moving slower than the others. Once all four stop spinning, your car thinks you've stopped and the brakes will stop pulsing.

He probably removed the crash beam to accommodate a larger FMIC. That tends to be the trend.

Agreed.

You'll have to get the keys from Spiegel.

...don't blow smoke up my ass, you know as well as I do that he was going probably around 50+ MPH in the beginning of the vid. Then again, the GoPro does have a slightly distorted FOV, so it's possible that the objects on the side of the road—which I am using for reference—make the car appear to be moving faster than

I'm not saying he didn't handle it appropriately—he likely did better than 99% of people would have in his situation. However, had he been driving an a speed more appropriate for the conditions, he might have been able to get out of it unscathed. It is absolutely inexcusable to just leave your vehicle in the middle of

"...people without common sense made it worse."

I want to see a video of you doing this...

DOH! Wow, I totally didn't notice the mirrors before. Hah!

Anyone else wondering how this thing will make left turns?
