The reason people connect with and admire Clair Huxtable is because she is a complete, fleshed-out, interesting character.

Now playing

I just want to draw some quick attention to this line from Stanley's NYT piece (emphasis mine):

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for giving DICEBOX the shout-out it has so long deserved! Jenn's work is not just the best webcomic, but one of the best comics, period, of the past decade.

That's probably how females feel about... females in most videogames. *Whoa*

Yeah I am writing off dudes who aren't open to dating women their age! Whether I fall into that category or not.

And spiders do us lots and lots of favors by killing and eating other arthropods that might otherwise be troublesome to us. Most spiders are not poisonous and mostly just want to be left alone.

Ah! It's Tuesday! That means it's time for more atavistic fear against hapless arthropods!*

Okay. I have to post.

Terminator seeds that artificially commit suicide after one growing season. Monsanto took out a patent on them and has denied ever since that they plan to do anything with it. Not only evil technology, inherently contra-survival for our species.

Have you watched Knights of Sidonia? The transhuman society depicted in the series includes a genetically engineered intersexed third gender who can change their body to be either male or female depending on the gender (and, I guess, the orientation) of whoever they fall in love with

Shoutout to Asellus's Quest in SaGa Frontier.

That's all we need - nincompoop police forces like in Ferguson using lasers to permanently blind peaceful protesters, as they also cause permanent hearing damage with LRAD cannons.

If there is one thing I'll never mind being spoiled for, its whether there is rape in a particular work. Whether or not its dealt with well or not, I like going knowing that it will be there, just to be mentally prepared.

I hate spoilers, at least for media I'm invested in.

One thing that spoilers can provide is a way to know when Trigger Warnings occur. Not everyone I know who likes watching Game of Thrones wants to see unexpected violence, so spoiling violent events on the show is one of the niceties I provided for one of my friends. So for Season 5 I am throwing my hands up in the air

Most venomous insects - and reptiles for that matter - have a very low kill rate. Even in Australia, where just about everything has evolved to get something nasty into you, only a handful of things are deadly for all but the most vulnerable of people.

There have been black-widow spiders in my house for 30 years and I leave them alone unless they are in a place that might be dangerous (such as in my bedroom). They've never given me any trouble, and they do keep the cricket population in check!!!

Looks can be deceiving yea? Because without any built in weapons, we humans dont look overly well designed and evolved do we? Take away our technology and we're worse off than sheep.

black widows and lemmings should launch a class action lawsuit against the media for defamation.
