I absolutely agree with your point. I absolutely despise the concept of “games as a service.”

But...!

In the instance that a game does provide (what might’ve been regarded in the past as) a respectable length of entertainment, “Games as a service” may create an expectation of constantly flowing content, regardless of

Agreed. At this point, I almost wish that the studio would go under and that guys like Casey Hudson could start fresh somewhere else, like what the Obsidian guys did after Black Isle went under. Maybe lure the Doctors back to give them some start up cash.

Nope, he’s completely wrong. Brazil didn’t diverge money from the country to others, they used BNDS as any bank: providing loans and gaining from interest and taxes on the way. And, beyond that, those loans provided the country with political and diplomatic influence all over the world, enabling trade deals and

These days I often find myself feeling less hopeful after reading an (any article) article (anywhere on the internet), especially if I make the mistake of reading the comments.

I’d also like to add that this belief among the “anti-Sjws”crowd or white people in general that they dont care for representation of their race is complete bullshit. They care the most, which is why whenever a main character is Black or made Black they complain and rage even if it changes nothing about the character’s

At the risk of sounding cliche; as a geeky Black girl your articles are so, so very important to me, Gita. You present the perspective that most gaming communities and fandoms in general purposefully ignore, and you do it boldly and unapologetically. The racism and vitriol I’ve gotten from speaking out about things has

The problem with a lot of people in the majority as you can see below is that they see representation as a zero sum game when it isn’t. Like if there are more protagonists who are gay/trans/poc/female that takes away from the straight white men. On the other hand you have a lot of these people who KNOW that it isn’t a

Honest question. Was the asshole who said Winston is Black get banned from Kinja? Or was anything done at all?

It’s very restrained and needlessly kind of you to not just say the clear objective truth, so I will.

“I’ll stop talking about race when people stop being racist.”- Larry Wilmore

Gita,

The main issue you are having with the perception of your articles, is that people here are especially racist. It’s funny that we have this whole black and grey comment system. When it comes to race you will see most of the racist comments are from people in the black. When they are reading your articles they are

“If I made a video game I would not put many black characters in it. Not because I’m racist. Because I’m not black, and don’t understand their “experience” well enough to create a character with a backstory and whatnot and put them in a game.”

Thank you for writing your perspective. I’m a white male, so I actually enjoy reading opinions from people who differ from me, and this was a great article.

I am a black developer on Apex Legends, I really appreciate you articles. I even sent your article on Overwatch to the rest of the design team to show how powerful having representation can be. I find what you do and what you write about to be powerful. You matter so much to this industry.

What would the point of that be, to wake up every day and make myself angry

In the 1980s the common pre-Maga-chud’s line was “Why isn’t there an Italian (white) history month? aka ‘reverse racism’”

So much of this article is applicable to many facets of ‘nerd culture.’ I was immediately reminded of my own experiences trying to discuss queer representation in overwhelmingly un-friendly online spaces. You would not believe the gate keeping nonsense one encounters when you point out Trek's sexist costumes, or

Naturally, the worst choice Brazil has for President picks the worst choice for Sonic games (and among the worst games in general) to champion himself. Next he’ll decide to use visuals from Aliens: Colonial Marines to promote his military.
