You are not guaranteed a degree by virtue of paying tuition and fees. You still need to earn that through your course work and follow the rules of the institution. Sexually assaulting a fellow student violates those rules. You are not owed the full protections of the criminal justice system every time you pay money…

Actually, your rights in criminal cases are different than in other contexts for the very reason that your freedom is at stake. Getting a degree from a university is a privilege, not a right.

As far as I can tell from reading the article, he attended all the same disciplinary hearings the victim did and he had access to much of the same evidence since he’s the one who sent her the abusive text messages.
