4th Gen 4runners had an optional V8. As I mentioned in another post just make sure that the timing belt has been replaced, otherwise the UZ-FE series engines were all excellent. Aftermarket support is vast and OEM equipment is plentiful as well.

Agreed, outside the timing belts they are phenomenal, robust, and reasonable on their gas mileage.
Also on the 4th Gen models with the UZ-FE / 2UZ-FE / 3UZ-FE V8s, they had belts as well that needed to be checked/replaced in higher mileage units.
Most Toyota’s are a solid, safe choice with dependability second to none on all models that would be considered in this query. I would like to add checking the timing belt on several generations of 4runner to the list of things needing to be checked, making sure that if it is high mileage that this has been replaced…
my 2011 VW Jetta them on the edge of the mirrors, little tiny orange lights that wrap around from the front.
That would be an Everest, which may be brought to the United States as part of the 4 new suv’s Ford intends to build. However they have had a recent rash of fires with the model in Austrailia.
Dont get me wrong, Stollies are frigging rad and if I had the money, time, and know how Id buy one in a heartbeat and turn it into an awesome overland rig. I just think it would be a bear to try to rework them maybe change things over to a skid-steer type hydraulic system where you wouldn’t necessarily have to worry…
Only problem with the stalwart is that they take a ridiculous amount of maintenance and upkeep, parts are hard to find, as soon as you enter water with the bugger you need to pretty much rebuilt the gearboxes afterwards.
This guy also made the 3 in 1 robot, part billboard part street sweeper, part RPG launching maniac. AMAZING! Complete with Barbie Jeep wheels he stole from his daughter.
Wish we could get this instead, its an actual production model in Brazil AND is a Ford subsidiary. Also, fills most needs here: brown, diesel, solid front axle, and comes with a 6-speed manual.
I’m surprised this hasn’t popped up. I mean it has similar looking wheels and everything. Just another example, alongside of the Colorado ZR2 Concept that GM teases us with and fails to put into production.
