That is...not at all equivalent. You would have to argue that a secondary pass from Crosby is “the real key to a goal being scored” the same time that Ovechkin scores off his ass or skate. You really think that’s the case?

My point is that secondary assist numbers inflate Crosby’s totals but don’t really mean very much.

Show me primary v. secondary assists for Crosby.
