Ask that question to Joanie Faircloth, a feminist who admitted to falsely accusing Colin Oberst of rape on the feminist blog XOJANE.

If the percentage of false accusations are in the single digits, then saying “women don’t lie about rape” is not just as stupid as saying “half of all rape accusations are false.” Saying the former is making a generalization based on overwhelming evidence that, more or less, supports the statement. Saying the latter

And if anyone was actually making that argument you might have a point instead of a pile of disingenuous horseshit. False rape accusation are pretty rare. False rape accusations that lead to actual investigation are rarer. False rape accusations that don’t fall apart under investigative scrutiny might as well be

Ok y’all, I am not saying that zero women have lied about rape in the history of ever. I am talking about people who assume every allegation is false when it’s actually a very small percentage.

Since Emma Sulkowicz has obviously accused Nungesser of rape, I am not sure how you can say that none of the accusations have anything to do with rape.

I do not know of any feminist who argues that false accusations NEVER happen. I think we all know that they do, rarely, and that they are a tragedy in their own rights when they do happen. It takes credibility away from the vast majority of accusers, who are telling the truth, just because occasionally someone lies.

As a modern Feminist that loves to argue I’ve never once said that false rape allegations never happen, nor have any of my friends. They do exist, at the same level they exist for everything else. On the other hand, when my boyfriend was mugged, nobody thought he might be making it up for attention, even though there

They LOVE to use alleged even when there is legit proof of a rape definitely happened. See Bill Cosby: Alleged Rapist article responses of ‘so and so just wants attention’.

It’s yours! I can only hope that someday the “false rape accusation” squad will someday be as widely derided as the antivaxxers.

Because if rape accusations are fake, then there’s no rape problem and they don’t have to deal with it. I really think that’s the root of it. It’s also the double-whammy of slut-shaming — the idea that women have sex, regret it, and call it rape. Suggesting that an accusation of rape is fake not so subtly calls women

nobody says they ‘never’ happen, just that the percentage is so minuscule that if you’re betting money on whether an accusation is legitimate or not, you’re a fucking moron (and about to be out some dough) if you take the ‘fake rape’ route.

It’s not that people think that women lie about rape. It’s that people think that women lie about EVERYTHING. Women don’t ever misspeak, embellish or create. They just lie. That is why people turn to your boyfriend to ask them the same question they just asked you and you just answered. These MRAs and their kin aren’t

This is very very similar to anti-vax rhetoric. False rape accusations and severe reactions to vaccinations happen, but they happen at such an astoundingly minuscule rate they shouldn’t even factor in to the discussion. Then a small coalition of very very loud people make bad arguments with enough truthiness to sway

Why why WHY do people think women lie about rape? What do they think Emma has to gain by making this up? How do they account for the fact that Paul Nungesser has been accused of rape by multiple women?

Rita Ora... what? First, people have to care about you to hate you, so that question was weird. Also, WHAT #1 singles? I’m genuinely asking. The only song I’ve heard her on is that God awful Black Widow thing she did with Iggy. If there are any others, they didn’t happen in America boo boo.

this person who covers her grey with regular-colored hair dye continues to be baffled by people who cover their regular-colored hair with grey.

“She believes in ‘exercise, laughing, having sex, being yourself.’”

Dear Kylie Jenner: I didn’t know you were gaining weight until I read today’s Dirtbag. You’re 17. Relax about your freaking self. There are billions of people who dgaf about you, your weight, your family . . . you get the drift.

All I’ve really learned here is that I literally cannot tell Dina Lohan and Kate Gosselin apart.

You need more people, Gwyneth. I don’t believe you either. Also, you named your kid Apple which is as highly pretentious a name as I have ever heard.
