“worried that the presence of women in their small teams could create complications in their home life, sexual harassment or affairs.”

“I weigh 225 pounds, and 280 pounds in full kit, as did most of the members of my ODA (a 12-man Army Green Beret unit). I expect every person on my team to be able to drag any member of my team out of a firefight. A 130 pound female could not do it...”

I love the ‘don’t change the standards’ mantra. You ever stop to think that maybe at least some of the standards are stupid and pointless and really having nothing to do with combat requirements? The military is constantly changing standards.

That’s great! It’s still ridiculous to pin the entire notion of women joining the Special Forces on speculative outcomes of a single metric that doesn’t have anything to do with their fighting capabilities. That’s the point I’m making here.

Human nature, biology, desire, military sex scandals, ALL are effected by gays in the military. You are just one of those people who blame women for men’s feelings, desires, behavior rather than making them responsible for themselves. They aren’t children or mental patients and are quite capable of acting like

When is the last time the US fought a necessary war?

... 64 percent believe they aren’t mentally tough enough.

then maybe try to be less shitty and bond like normal people and not like sociopaths who have to prove they have the biggest wang?

Women are incapable of forming bonds with their unit? What?

There never seems to be an acknowledgement that women might bring unique strengths to a team, like being able to more easily interact with women in societies where women do not speak to strange men.

So over/under on how long before these “mentally tough” men do something appalling like filming their female colleagues in showers like that story from the Navy?

This is the dumbest argument ever. No one is proposing that special forces be 50% women. And you can’t just walk in to a recruitment office and sign up for Navy SEAL School. There are all sorts of standards a person has to meet before even being allowed to try. All they’re doing his saying that ‘not having a penis’

According to AP, more than 80 percent said women aren’t strong enough and can’t handle the demands of the job...

Why does she have to be a 130-lb woman? I know plenty of kickass ladies who are strong as hell, fit as any man, and weigh 170 or more. These aren't models, they're soldiers.

Isn’t it hilarious that, what the objections come down to, at the end of the day, is whether or not a 135lb woman can drag an incapacitated teammate out of a firefight? So these guys are presuming, right off the bat, that they’re going to have to get dragged out of firefights? Sort of a defeatist mentality, if you ask

Don’t lower or change the physical standards, and let the best of the best do what they do best.

We still have a military? I thought it imploded after they started letting gays serve.

Clearly their protests are because they’re sexist assholes and has nothing to do with their concern for their own well being in combat situations.

So.... I guess women in the military will get respect when they are the only ones in the military? Like, what else are we supposed to prove as a gender at this point to these fucks?
