It’s probably just to give it texture so it stays better. I’m assuming it’s extensions, which are often braided for storage so they don’t knot.

That lace in the second one is definitely taped/glued on. Ow.

Holy crap, you made columns.

Reading this article actually makes me want to agree with that Munster lady and actually say “eff your standards.” I’m also wondering if these “freshly rejected” feelings persist with women. And I would wonder if guys are doing this because the message we get is to always “suck it up” in the face of adversity because

These are custom made items made by skilled people who are presumably making a living wage. That price point isn’t outlandish.

The UK price is £60, they are a small UK company and it costs so much because they are not massed produced.

Surely you don’t expect a customized, one-of-a-kind doll to be as cheap as the mass produced dolls from sweatshops in southeast asia? The price for one doll is slightly below one day’s wages for an average american worker, but there are probably several people involved in the production of every doll, and I’m guessing

Yeah that’s how this works. Specialty projects are harder to make and therefore more expensive to make. I don’t understand why people assume things that are far removed from the pump and dump of mass distribution analogous crap should be just as cheap.

It definitely blows that they are so pricey, but it's probably hard to do custom dolls on the cheap like that. I'm just guessing. I don't know much about toy manufacturing. I do know that you need to take out a small loan to visit build-a-bear.

WTF kind of study is this? Who paid for this?

“being rejected by the attractive man appeared to make participants less willing to affiliate with the unattractive man, and more inclined to evaluate him harshly.”

Compared to what? Women who were accepted by the attractive man? They can afford to be nice to the one they

American Girl dolls and accessories are just as expensive if not more so. They are also well made.

Actually, no. It’s stated on multiple sites that Duncan’s was based on FAO Schwartz. IMDB.com, for one.

I think the researchers are on to something here, but I also think they’re forcing the data to fit their preexisting belief that humans are Darwinian calculating machines. Human romance is not a negotiation of social status. The concept of status is alien and novel to human sexuality because social class didn’t exist

It’s very simple. Men that assume they can “swoop in” because they treat women’s attraction like an interchangeable thing, do so because they see women as interchangeable. I can’t believe I am saying this sincerely but that’s not all men that have this problem. But.....I bet if you started looking at guys bitching

Very interesting. It’s cool that science can verify that vulture-like dating behavior is a major turnoff.

It really sucks to be a New Yorker who has loved this city all your life and watch as everything good about it is sucked up by insane real estate developers.

The last time I went to FAO four years ago I realized that they have a lot of toys that children would want, but not realistically ever HAVE. The rest is themed memorabilia that only grown fans would want but still not be able to afford. Harry Potter and LOTR fans are at least 20 by now but I highly doubt the average

Every time I went in as a kid we never bought anything, just walked around and experienced how magical the place was. I imagine that a lot of people did that and have continued to do so. It’s a huge place and it’s prime real estate. Sad, but not entirely surprising.

Sadface. Where will I purchase my $11,000 stuffed giraffe?

Getting Historical site status only means the building itself is safe. It doesn’t really affect the business or tenants.
