The whole point of the video that this article is about is to disprove your second point. The Switch can now be ordered directly, without the need for backorders; it takes around 2 weeks to ship.

Kotaku helping the people learn that a Switch emulator exists. Thumbs up.
Meanwhile the rest of the current player base is actually thankful for these changes which will:
This isn’t free to play grind bullshit as much as it is, “we want you to learn this game and its mechanics before jumping into games with other people who very much know what they’re doing”
Presenting an option to players that is literally — not practically, literally — impossible is not a wise choice for a developer to do. That’s going to piss off more people than it pleases.
The objective was just weird to begin with. They’ve never demanded that people do the Master-level activity for weekly story progression. Not sure what they were thinking here.
They will still be vaulting seasonal content and activities once the next expansion comes out.
It’s still wild to me that they do a fair amount of story content in the seasons that just... expires. I dunno what the numbers look like in terms of folks who would like to play (or replay) that content down the road vs. the FOMO making players play every month in order to see this content, but it really feels…
I’m surprised that they don’t just give these away (or at cost of shipping) just to get people to d/l and use their app, get into their ecosystem.
Can confirm that this does help me feel better with all sorts of infections and allergies. The key though is you can’t try doing it if you’re already stopped up tight because you’ll mess up your ears. Take some kind of decongestant first, then flush.
We all wish we didn’t have to think about this stuff, but we do. If the event fails to meet the standards of participants, it will fail because runners will not attend. Whether it’s kowtowing to social pressure or not is frankly irrelevant. Their aim is to get popular speedrunners to show up so people watch and donate…
You think gaming wasn’t political in the 80s/90s?
“ 80's and 90's”
Yeah...ummmm. No? The 80s and 90s were just as politically tumultuous as today. The only difference is that social media wasn’t a thing in which it was constantly in your face. Basically you can’t hide from it anymore, and nor should you.
And considering that things like worker unions and toxic gambling…
Games have ALWAYS been political. They’re just not reflecting your assbackwards politics anymore and THAT’S what you can’t stand.
Says the bitch who is too much of a bitch to type the word bitch and instead uses an asterisk…like a bitch.
Keep politics away from gaming please.
If an organization cancels an event they were going to hold, they should be allowed to explain why. I’m sorry you think keeping their attendees safe and LGBTQ+ people existing (which make up a decent number of speedrunners for some games) are “politics”.
Shut the fuck up snowflake
Interesting. Oh oops it's the 2nd. Maybe next month.
